Two Rivers Massage Opens on Airport Concourse
Pamela Fisher has a message for all you weary travelers.
Relax.
Fisher has just made that easier for passengers
at The Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids by “opening” up her chair
on the C Concourse. Fischer’s business is Two Rivers Massage,
based in Quad Cities. She was recently awarded a contract by the
Cedar Rapids Airport Commission to being her chair massage business
in the Airport.
A Moline High School graduate, Fisher is a
Nationally Certified Bodyworker and Massage Therapist, graduating
from the University of Alaska Anchorage’s Massage Therapy
Program in 1999. She is also an airline veteran, having worked for
12 years in Alaska.
Two Rivers Massage has been providing “Touch & Go"
Chair
Massages for several companies in the Quad Cities area and when the
opportunity at The Eastern Iowa Airport presented itself, Fischer
knew she wanted to be involved.
"I realized that all of the local massage schools are
providing our communities with so many great massage therapists, but
there are few massage opportunities," Fisher said.
She said she decided to use her entrepreneurial
spirit and her love of massage to create massage locations that
provide massage therapists with some great exposure and educate the
public about the essential benefits of massage.
Airport Director Dan Mann said the addition of
Two Rivers Massage is another example of a customer service enhancement
he believes are vital to the Airport.
“We all stress to passengers to check in at their airline
counter and get through security, to lessen checkpoint lines,” Mann
said. “But in many places, once you get beyond the checkpoint,
there’s little for a passenger to do. Ms. Fisher’s service
is a great diversion for business and leisure travelers waiting to
board their plane.”
Fisher employs only local, licensed massage therapists. The chair
is located along the C Concourse. Daily hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. .
Prices for a chair massage are $1 per minute.
For $5, the five-minute massage would provide a customer with an
introduction to the service. For 30 minutes - $30 – you receive a “very thorough stress-busting
massage,” Fischer said.
