From
the Director's Desk
Customer
service.
Those are two words often left out of the Airport
business but I have made those words the priority for The Eastern
Iowa Airport.
We’ve had numerous air service enhancements
and customer service improvements in the past few months that benefit
the traveling public, the airlines, the Airport and the Corridor.
Allegiant Airlines began service to Orlando Sanford International
Airport using 140- and 150- passenger jets. Allegiant has been a
tremendous partner with the Airport and the region. Their service
to Las Vegas has put that city as the No. 1 spot travelers go to
from Cedar Rapids. The Orlando service, complete with options for
hotel, passes to area attractions and rental cars, and is proving
extremely popular with leisure travelers. Allegiant is drawing in
customers not only from the Iowa market area, but from Illinois as
well.
AmericanConnection operator Trans States Airlines
is upgrading service to St. Louis from turbo props to regional
jets. Cedar Rapids is the only place in Eastern Iowa where you
can fly non-stop to St. Louis, accessing the many connections at
American’s hub. St. Louis
service has been a mainstay in Cedar Rapids and favorite with our
Corridor travelers. The schedule is also terrific for those who like
a little extra sleep in the morning. You can catch a 7 a.m. flight
and get to several destinations at the same time as an earlier departure
on other airlines.
The most recent announcement – and arguably the biggest -
new service to Atlanta via Delta Connection carrier Atlantic Southeast
Airlines begins June 9. Corridor travelers have long wanted the ability
to fly direct to Atlanta from Cedar Rapids, for business interests
in that city, or to take advantage of the many connections – more
than 200 including 24 international destinations. This new service
literally opens up the world to the Corridor.
Smaller, yet important customer service improvements have also been
implemented in the terminal. Three, high-definition LCD flat panel
televisions have been installed in the B and C concourses. Programming
is coordinated with the Airport restaurant.
Free wireless Internet access was installed
throughout the terminal. You read that correctly – it’s
FREE. We felt strongly that this service needed to be available
without charge as another incentive for people to use their home
Airport. It enables business travelers to stay on top of their
work while out of the office and also provides leisure travelers
a way to use their wireless handheld devices to check email or
surf the Internet.
One additional amenity just added is the “Touch & Go” Chair
massage provided by Two Rivers Massage. Professional, certified,
local and licensed massage therapists offer chair massage seven days
a week upstairs near Gate C1.
It’s just another way to help make your
experience at the Eastern Iowa Airport a positive one.
We have many other improvements planned with
you – the customer – in
mind. We look forward to keeping you up to date on all our progress.
