Airport Breaks Passenger Record

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jan. 23, 2006 – The Eastern Iowa Airport has set a new passenger record with more than  1 million passengers flying in and out of Cedar Rapids in 2005.

The total number of passengers for 2005 is 1,004,034. This breaks the previous record set in 2000 when the total numbers of passengers was 1,001,219.

Dan Mann, Airport Director, said the record-breaking passenger count shows that Eastern Iowans know what a tremendous asset the Airport is to the area. “Our market encompasses many communities in Eastern Iowa and people know that they have the most options available at The Eastern Iowa Airport – their home Airport,” Mann said.

While Mann won’t predict what passenger numbers for 2006 will be, he is confident people will continue to look to Cedar Rapids as their first choice for air service.

In turn, Mann said the Airport will continue to look at ways to improve both air service and the facility. Some recent customer service improvements include Wi-Fi service available FREE throughout the terminal and televisions installed on the B and C concourses.

“Those improvements are something customers have told us they wanted to see and we worked to get them in place,” Mann said.
