Delta to begin Atlanta Service June 8

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Feb. 24, 2006 – Delta Connection Carrier Atlantic Southeast Airlines will offer new daily service between Atlanta and Cedar Rapids beginning June 8 using the quiet and comfortable Bombardier CRJ200 jet aircraft.

The daily service will begin with one flight departing Cedar Rapids at 6:30 a.m. The return flight will leave Atlanta at 8:05 p.m. getting you back to Eastern Iowa by 9:09 p.m. Area business people with offices or clients in Atlanta can now make a day trip for meetings.

Others – business and leisure travelers - will be able to utilize one of Delta’s connections to more than 200 destinations available daily out of Atlanta.

Airport Director Dan Mann said the new Delta service enhances the wonderful Delta Comair service to Cincinnati. Delta Comair operates three daily flights to the Delta hub in Cincinnati on a 50-passenger regional jet.

Mann added that Cedar Rapids and Iowa City area business people have indicated Atlanta service is a priority.

"We have many Corridor companies with business in Atlanta and this option out of their home Airport will save business people time and money," Mann said. "This also opens up another avenue for connections to the East and Southeast on Delta. Business and leisure travelers will reap the benefits."

Mann said Delta recognizes in addition to the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Corridor, there are many travelers in the Waterloo and Dubuque markets who will want to take advantage of this service.

"Delta obviously has reviewed the area and knows there are passengers waiting to get on board, and The Eastern Iowa Airport market provides Delta a strong revenue source," he said. "This new service is a win for Eastern Iowa and a win for Delta."

This additional service gives The Eastern Iowa Airport 10 non-stop destinations, the MOST offered by any airport in Eastern Iowa. More than 45 departures per day are available to hub destinations Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Denver, Detroit, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Orlando Sanford and St. Louis. Airlines include American Connection, American Eagle, Delta, Northwest, United Express and Allegiant Air.
