Flights Added at CID

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 12, 2007 – Delta Connection and American Eagle are adding flights out of Cedar Rapids, increasing the number of available seats in the market by more than 36,000 annually.

American Eagle will add a sixth daily flight to Dallas/Ft. Worth beginning April 10. A 50-passenger regional jet will be used on the flight. The schedule for the new flight is:

Depart DFW at 11:45 a.m.   –    Arrive at CID at 1:45 p.m.
Depart CID at 2:15 p.m.   –     Arrive at DFW at 4:15 p.m.

Delta Connection Carrier Atlantic Southeast Airlines is adding a second non-stop flight to Atlanta, effective June 7. A CRJ200, regional jet aircraft will be used on the flight. The schedule for the new flight is (all times are local):

Depart ATL at 10:35 a.m.    -     Arrive at CID at 11:45 a.m.
Depart CID at 12:15 p.m.     -     Arrive at ATL at 3:17 p.m.

Airport Director Dan Mann said this good news will help everyone.

“The increased frequencies means improved convenience for the business traveler and with 36,500 more seats in the market, leisure travelers will find better fares,” he said.

Delta Connection began the Atlanta service in June 2006 and it has been very popular, prompting the airline to increase the amount of service out of CID. Delta also serves the Corridor market with three daily flights to Cincinnati, the only airport in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois to have that option.

“Atlanta and Cincinnati continue to be a great alternative for people who are unsure about connecting through Chicago O’Hare,” Mann said.

American Eagle has been increasing its presence at CID over the last several years, serving three hubs: Chicago O’Hare, St. Louis and Dallas/Ft. Worth. DFW is an often-used connection point for people going to Phoenix, San Diego and other Texas locations.

“American is a great partner with The Eastern Iowa Airport,” Mann said. “The high quality of service and the number of flight options the airline provides help keep American on top at CID.”

Mann also noted he recently met with Frontier Airlines regarding possible new service into the Corridor market. He said the airport will continue to have discussions with the airline. Frontier gave no timeline as to when a decision whether to start service at CID will be made.
