Airport Breaks September Record

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The number of passengers using The Eastern Iowa Airport in September has broken another record.

A total of 81,566 passengers chose The Eastern Iowa Airport for their business and leisure travel in September. The number of enplaned passengers - the
statistic used by the Federal Aviation Administration to measure growth – was 41,173, a 5.1% increase over the same time period in 2006.

The previous record for September was set in 2005 when 80,232 passengers used CID, with 40,311 enplaned passengers.

Passenger counts are expected to increase throughout the rest of the year with Allegiant Air beginning its non-stop flights to Phoenix-Mesa, Arizona on Thursday. Officials said there are 103 people on the flight into Cedar Rapids on Thursday, scheduled to arrive at CID at 1:05 p.m. The first flight out of CID to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport presently is booked with 144 passengers, scheduled to depart at 1:40 p.m. Allegiant Air is using MD-80 aircraft for the Phoenix-Mesa flight, the same type of jet used on flights to Las Vegas and Orlando.
